Every restaurant needs some regulars because they have the potential to make up the majority of your profits. Here are some tips on how to get regulars and then how to keep them coming back for more.
Don’t Forget to Say Hi: This tip can be for both servers and managers. If you see a customer you recognize, go over and say hi! Customers like to be remembered, and even if they aren’t in your section, that doesn’t mean you can’t say hello. Customers are more likely to come back if they are remembered and welcomed and made to feel special. Create a friendly environment people will want to come back to.
Offer Them Some Discounts: Make sure they know all of the existing discount offers when they go to order, but also email them some coupons on their birthday or holidays or anything similar. Also, if they’re already official regulars you could give them a free drink or appetizer occasionally, just to show them you appreciate them and their business.
Use Social Media: Assuming your business has a presence on social media sites (like it should!), you can interact with your regulars on websites of your choice. Make sure to follow them and reply to all their comments and, of course, ‘like’ and ‘repost’ when anyone mentions your restaurant because you will gain publicity and free advertising. Also, put a note on the door telling people how to ‘check in’ to your restaurant on Facebook when they go to eat there.
